Let the children come to me (Luke 18:16). St. Joseph Catholic Church offers the youth of our parish an opportunity to grow in their faith and become more active in the Mass by serving as Altar Servers.
What does an Altar Server do? The two main duties of an Altar Server are to assist the priest and deacon during the celebration of Mass, and help the people pray by your example.
Who can become an Altar Server? Boys and girls who have celebrated their First Holy Communion, and are willing to serve at Mass and special liturgical celebrations once or twice per month.
The commitment for Altar Servers is shared by their parents as it is important that Altar Servers arrive at Church 15 minutes before Mass.
Ushers are also needed at masses to help with collections and seating parishioners. Training provided.
Contact Mark Welsh at (916) 717-6207 to learn more about becoming an Altar Server or an Usher.
