Adult Faith Discussion and Formation Group
What is Gratia Continua? Gratia Continua is a ministry devoted to deepening the understanding of our Faith through study and discussion. As a group, we focus on the teachings of the Church through Scripture and sacred Tradition, including the church’s magisterial documents and the Catechism, and examining their impact in our lives. Gratia Continua will focus on this effort as a group, learning from each other and from the teachings we focus on every other week.
What is the topic for Fall 2023? This year, in conjunction with the Eucharistic Revival, we will be doing a focused study of Bishop Robert Barron’s book This is My Body: A Call to Eucharistic Revival. We will explore the book’s focus on the Old Testament roots of the Eucharist as sacred meal, sacrifice, and Real Presence, and watch short videos of reflections from Bishop Barron. We hope you will join us in deepening our faith through increasing our understanding of the Eucharist and growing in our love for Jesus.
When and where does the group meet? In Father Dan’s Library, which is the portable at the very end of the row of classroom portables. In Fall of 2023, we will be meeting on Sundays, October 1, 15, 29, and November 12 after the 9am Mass.
What are the classes like? Everyone is welcome and the structure is casual. We usually start with food and catching up on how everyone is doing. We understand that everyone is busy, so we try to get right to it and stay on topic. The readings are emailed out to participants a week in advance, and are discussed during class. We also watch a short (20 min.) video on the topic and talk about what stood out to us.
Do I have to prepare anything? Is there homework? The readings are optional – please feel free to come to listen and journey with your fellow parishioners. If you find yourself called to participate in deeper study of the material, we will provide it to you for you to follow along.
Is there a cost? No, the classes are free.
What does Gratia Continua mean? Gratia continua (Continuous Grace) acknowledges that God’s grace is always flowing to us, and that as people of God we are called to open our hearts and minds to that grace in our everyday lives.
